Our roots trace back to the early 1980s when the late Rev. Bob Steyn of the Cape Town Unitarian Church (founded in 1868) established a monthly gathering in Somerset West. Following his passing in 1997, our group evolved into an independent Unitarian Fellowship, carrying forward his legacy of open-minded spirituality and community.Over the years, we have been fortunate to be guided by dedicated leaders, including Rev. Gordon Oliver and lay leaders Dave & Jeanie Mayes—Unitarian transplants from the USA who brought their warmth and wisdom to South Africa. In May 2025, we welcomed Rev. Roux Malan as our new leader and facilitator, marking an exciting new chapter for our fellowship. We are a vibrant, inclusive community striving to deepen connections and embrace diversity—both in thought and across generations.Whether you're exploring Unitarianism for the first time or seeking a welcoming spiritual home, we invite you to join us at any time.
